Awesome Philly Cheesesteak sandwich. Best I've had. I highly recommend this place.
If you're a Philadelphia Eagles fan, this seems to be the place to watch the games!

I suppose the unofficial launch of a Philly Cheesesteak Tour here in LA was inevitable.
Finally made it to this joint, was just in the mood for some meat, protein-heavy stuff and my salads were looking great.
Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Ordered the standard cheesesteak - the cheese on this is a combo of provolone and American cheeses. Didn't ask for anything special, as this was my first visit - something textbook seemed the way to go when testing old ships in unfamiliar waters.
They serve on 9" Amoroso's rolls, which is pretty legit for Philly connoisseurs.
My cheesesteak came out toasted though, which I didn't know - will have to request for my cheesesteaks Italian roll not to get toasted - maybe I'm a purist or a snob, but I like having more of the flavor of the bread upon which my Philly cheesesteak rests.
And, on a completely unrelated note, I would not classify this place under 'Sandwiches' - 'Cheesesteaks' should be another category altogether - ask any Philly girl.

Awesome cheese steak sammiches.. enough said :)The Cheese steak is delicious and I love that they have a little bar where you can spice it up the way you like.
My boyfriend is from Philly and he gives it his seal of approval, no it's not exactly like one from Gino's or Pat's but it's pretty dang close. The wait times can be pretty long. But I think it's because they cook everything FRESH! You can watch them do so.I love this place and eat here quite often.

I am not an aficionado nor can I speak to the "authenticity" question. All I can say is that this is the most delicious self described "cheesesteak" I have ever eaten. Highly recommended!

South Street is the second best cheesesteak I've had outside of Philly, next to Mitchell's Market in OC, MD. The meat was cooked perfectly, it came on an Amoroso roll, which I loved, and you can get it "wit' whiz"! The fries were awesome, the interior is all about Philly, there're facts, celebrity photos, and TVs playing the Phils, 6ers, Birds, or Flyers! I'm pretty excited to go back for the sausage sandwich and some of the other menu items

I get hungry just thinking about this place. I always get the mushroom. Love it. They have the best onion rings around. Very good.

Lunch special with the italian roll pizza is great value for money. They also have many spices next to the drink fountain if you're a capsaicin-fiend. Neat fish-bowl kitchen, too.
If you're from Philly this place is a nostalgia/homesickness engine, as it seems to be endorsed by anyone famous or influential that's ever been connected to the City of Brotherly Love in the last five years. They've got posters and plaques and signed photos up the wazoo, and by wazoo, I mean walls. Faux-brick-with-plaster walls.
Approach this place from Victory blvd while driving south, or come in from the side street that runs parallel with Olive. The parking lot seems small, but there's always room.

Sometimes I find Yelp confusing. This place is a 3 - 4 star place but what I find confusing is people rate Philly's Best a solid 4 over this place. Philly's Best is decent mall type food but it aint nearly as good as this place. I'm sure there is better than both of them out there but Philly's Best at 4 stars? Go here, it is right up the the street.
