Mitch and Smitty left Philadelphia for careers in Los Angeles more than thirty years ago. They took with them cherished memories of the Eagles, Sixers, Phillies, Flyers and their other great hometown symbols: the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Museum of Art, and of course, the single most memorable icon of a proud city, the Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich. A fleeting memory is all it would have ever been to Mitch and Smitty, because outside of Philadelphia, it was impossible to find an authentic sandwich that could meet their high standards...until now. Determined to recreate an experience that would please purists and make believers out of the rest of us, Mitch and Smitty have founded South Street, the home of the classic Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich. Other cheese steak sandwich restaurants have come and gone. So what makes South Street different? First, there is the steak; rib eye, not the lesser cuts of meat used by Mitch and Smitty’s competitors. Second, the cheese - blended and aromatic. And above all, the South Street sandwich is "born and bread" in Philadelphia. The bread is brought in from Philly’s own Amoroso’s Bakery and it finishes baking fresh in our ovens. They say you can’t go home again. But you can at South Street, where Philly cheese steaks are made with brotherly love.
Enjoy the Experience. |
